Lanyard K. Dial, MD Physician at the Helm
Geriatric medical specialist Lanyard K. Dial, MD took the top post at Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurse Association in July of 2007. Dr. Dial, however, was not new to Livingston. He had been acting as Livingston’s Medical Director since 1985 and had served as a volunteer member of Livingston’s Board of Directors since 1993. His ascension to the post of President/CEO and Medical Director was a natural fit for Ventura County’s longest serving home health care agency.
As a long-time Ventura County resident, he works to improve the quality of medical services for the elderly, homebound, and terminally ill. His goal is to ensure that patients in Ventura County have access to quality home health, compassionate hospice care, and vital in-home assistance.
Dr. Dial graduated from the Washington University School of Medicine in 1981. For more than 20 years, he was in medical leadership roles at Ventura County Medical Center, culminating with his tenure as Medical Director for the Ventura County Health Care Agency.
He is often recognized for local and national achievements and was recently featured in AgingWell magazine as “A Professional of Note in Geriatric Medicine.” He is one of only 1,250 physicians nationally who have been awarded certification by the American Board of Family Medicine for Hospice and Palliative Medicine. Dr. Dial said of his certification, “It’s important to me that our patients and the community know that Livingston is Ventura County’s first and most qualified hospice agency. We ask all our staff to pursue additional training and certification in their professions.”
